Since FABA Motor maintains such a wide range of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools, the design effort can, in most cases, be directly performed with the customer‘s preferred CAD platform. Beginning with the earliest phases of the design, structural analyses for the mechanical and thermal optimization of the components (load, deformation, etc.) support the design effort. This approach represents a significant time and cost savings by avoiding a considerable portion of the usual experimental development testing.
FABA Motor offers mechanical development services, including functional and endurance testing of individual components and complete engines. Depending on the size and power of the engines, tests with cylinder engines can be alternatively performed either at FABA or within the customer’s own facilities. Typically, the decision is made on the basis of the investment required and the overall program cost.
At FABA Motor, process development (injection, combustion and turbo-charging) is a core engine development technology. FABA Motor has developed a specialized large-bore single cylinder research engine that is adaptable to different engine configurations (e.g. bore and stroke, compression ratio, RPM). The engine can be operated with distillate fuel as well as heavy fuel oil and gases.
